Farewell to Webkinz Friends
Webkinz Friends fans were surprised by the following announcement this morning (Click here for image of WF post on FB):
Dear Webkinz Friends players,
After long discussions and exhausting all other options we have decided to shut down Webkinz Friends.
Webkinz Friends has been a wonderful game to work on, and we continue to be impressed with the versions of Kinzville that our players have created. Unfortunately the game never found the audience it needed, which limited our ability to add new content and give the game the attention it deserved.
For this reason, we will be shutting down Webkinz Friends to allow us to focus on our core games, Webkinz and Amazing World.
As of today Webkinz Friends will no longer be available to new players and will no longer accept payments. Existing players like you will be able to continue playing until August 31, 2014. After that date the game with no longer be available. This will affect both the Facebook and iPad versions of the game.
To make your final month as enjoyable as possible, we have removed the Energy requirements from the game. For those of you who have not been able to unlock all of the Webkinz.com prizes, we will be slowly adding these prizes to Webkinz World so that everyone has the chance to win them.
We want to thank each and every one of you for playing Webkinz Friends and hope to see you in Webkinz World.

I agree with you on those points, Momsk. I have plenty of fairy biscuits, thanks… want stars, want the ones I don’t have without waiting many months to find them… Nafaria needs to be more willing to take the stars we do have and NOT STEAL the stars we have, that is beyond unfun and unfunny… that ghost shows up far too often, we need some amulet to ward him off…
And.. deluxe should not get glup, glop, etc.. and no food as prizes… no one should be.. as a perk for deluxe… no un-prizey prizes…

I invested very little real money in WF and only kept playing to get the items that we could send back to WW. For me, it took too much time away from WW.

There doesn’t need to be a person in the photo to tag it. Click on the pic and a new ‘window” comes up with editing type features, one of those is “tag” another is describe the pic or title.. something like that… click that and you get lines to type in..

there’s a discussion on another site about what if ww folds one day without warning just like webkinz friends had a kinzgems sale right before they announced its demise and this comment by someone named Jenn rang true to me:
“I think any business cannot reveal it’s plans to cut staff or downsize, or even close because as soon as they reveal that news, they lose business. No matter what decision they make, or are in talks to make, they can’t give up their plans as long as the company is still running and no finite decisions to close it have been made, so even if they had plans or were in discussion, such as webkinz friends, they wouldn’t be able to reveal it until a decision was reached.
The back of my webkinz tags have always read a disclaimer that the website could be terminated at any time without any warning. I have always taken that to heart and realize any money I invest on a game in the computer is the same type of money I invest in any other entertainment, like a movie or a broadway show, so I will just continue to play with that in mind and enjoy whatever time I can find to play.”

Zingy, re 183: I agree with most of what you said though I do have to think on the ‘life before webkinz and life after webkinz’ part 😉
2015 is not long term planning to me…
So many ideas that they started and then let go; Mazin Hamsters, AP, We Cares, Endangered Sigs, etc….
As far as the FB games, I think that was an area they did not need to dabble in, it only took our time away from webkinz and divided up their efforts too.
I am more concerned about the loss of playing webkinz on mobile devices. iDevices now have a solution but, so far, still not android 🙁 that was huge for me. We end up on the road traveling on relocating for homework time, etc… it was great to be able to do hourlies, events, rares, and even decorate on mobile. Being able to bathe webbies on the mobile app doesn’t make up for what was lost lol.

Finally! I have been trying to log in & get to Gymbos for a few hours now! for some reason I can sign in to the main site but when I come to Gymbos I can not post because I am no longer signed in! There is another browser that does flash, a couple of them. The problem is in the device is recognized as mobile and then WW doesn’t load.
I’m surprised about Amazing World too. I dabbled in it a bit, lots of glitchy-ness at least on my old computer. I haven’t tried it on my new one. Since it is just like Mazin Hamters, which I play but not much since the POV motion tends to upset my epilepsy.

Hi Everyone!
I just found out about WF..glad I am finished with the challenges and that I never spent a dime on gems. I told my mom and sister to be careful about it , was bad enough the money we all spent on WW. I just could not justify more money on another game period. and I stuck to it. I did enjoy it but honestly it took me away from WW, now I will probably enjoy WW again as I wont be trying to keep up with both. sorry for all of you who got hurt by this.
Other then that just wanted you all to know I completed all requirements for reduction!!! just waiting for insurance to say ok..now that it looks to be possible..i’m kinda scared about it. but I know it will be best for me in long run.
sorry I haven’t been around much I do miss talking to all of you, I just have been so busy with cakes and favors for showers and weddings that I just don’t have the energy to do everything I want to right now.

I agree with Zingy’s post..(thanks for posting Jenn’s) we need to enjoy WW while its here…and have the fun we always have…and truth be told..how many of us would have stuck it out without forums….

shelly – i’ve had a couple of times here where it tells me to log in, then it doesn’t look like i did, but if i comment, it goes fine and looks normal again
it’s something with wordpress, not something we can fix …

as for Tues Morning – i’m going to have to stay away if at all possible LOL but lil kinz, if there were fish & birds … friends were over yesterday and went shopping in my webkinz plush 🙂
