Checkers Trophy Challenge
The Checkers Trophy Challenge starts on Monday, January 28th.
There are 3 tasks you’ll need to complete by midnight, February 3rd (EST) to earn the Checker’s Trophy:
- Win 8 Games of Checkers at the Tournament Arena
- Make 15 Wishes on Wishing Well 2 in the Games Arcade
- Play Alyssa’s Star Challenge 3 times

Ruby, how terrifying for your daughter, not to mention the rest of your family! I’m so proud of your daughter for standing up and doing everything that’s needed to deal with this, and I’m impressed that the school is taking it so (and appropriately) seriously. Looks like the #metoo generation is finally going to do tings right for us women! I second pepper spray or a taser (although, those are sometimes considered weapons), but there’s LOTS of non-lethal self-defense items out there- brass knuckles that are purse keyrings, extendable batons that you keep in your pocket and can beat the heck out of someone with. Def research some things, and the legality of carrying them in your city and on campus!
Also, your story about the drywall gave me anxiety. We’re in the contract-negotiation stage with a handyman who seems promising, and I hope we don’t have a similar deal. Yikes. I would be so furious, disgruntled, disheartened, and enraged.
Good news about the kitty. We’re debating getting Kiddo one for his birthday in April. We took him to see rescue cats at a pet store close by, and he LOVED IT.
Moms, how about out Winter Weather Watch?? YEE! Maybe we can build a snowman again this year! Kiddo didn’t get my killer cold, but he caught a little croupy crud thing from a runny-nosed friend that’s put him feeling crummy at night, and has us alarmed with his wheezy gaspy croup cough. He has some good ol’ Dimetapp in him tonight, so here’s hoping for some rest and decongestion.

puma – make sure you let him breathe some cold air too! when mine used to get like that, the doctor would say to bundle up and take him outside or turn the heat way down at night so he was breathing cold air

Oh My Ruby!! Your life has been shook every which way! So glad that one out of the three was good news, though. Having a good job with an understanding boss is way better than a job with all the benefits and pay, but an inflexible boss.
Sorry about your drywall debacle. When you have people come in to your home to make things better and you get bad results it can burn you on future referrals. Hopefully you can get the results you were promised.
And MOST of all, I am so glad that your daughter has your strength to draw from! It isn’t just the #metoo movement that is empowering women, it is their mothers, sisters, aunts who are all showing those Grasshoppers that Ants are strong on their own! We have had enough and we want what is OURS! Proud of you and your girl, Ruby. Fight the GOOD fight!
Puma, I am through to the other side, just in time to go back to work tomorrow. I have to be in EARLY to do my inventory. I get two hours off for lunch and will go visit my Best Friend who had lung surgery two weeks ago. She is feeling strong enough to go grocery shopping, so I am going to take her for a short trip, maybe vacuum her carpets, too.

RubyCubes… SO much happening in your RL !! Happy to hear you were given the job and that it seems to be a perfect fit.. There is so much to be said for job satisfaction despite the pay being less than the previous one… Many more positives.. go with you heart and the rest will fall into place.
The pride in workmanship seems to be a thing of the past ! Hopefully the drywall issue can be resolved without having the hassle of pursuing small claims..
What a horrible incident for your daughter ! Such a young intelligent girl who heads off to university to pursue an education and then confronted by a creepy %@&@# who attacks her… She was very brave to have the where with all to fight back and defend herself…Not only should he be thrown out of the university but should be thrown into the slammer !! My thoughts and prayers are with her and you as you struggle through getting him put where he belongs !

moms… talk of our news is of coarse the Polar Vortex that is heading our way this week.. Schools are already planning to close…my nephew’s school system has no buses so many of the kids have to walk a distance..not only the temperature but maneuvering the sidewalks which are not shoveled !!
Talking wind chills in minus 20-50 degrees below zero !!! So much of the country expected to be in the deep freeze….
On a brighter note…. February right around the corner… which means a whole month of new things in WW ! New challenges…a new pet??..

Have an appointment this morning with a lawyer… Having a will drawn up which I never thought about until recently… and also on a quest to have my first name changed legally on my birth certificate…..I asked my Mom the other day about the name she chose… Don’t know where in the world she came up with it… she was told she couldn’t take me home until I had a name!! They sure did pick the WRONG one…. All five of my siblings have traditional Irish names…. NOT ME !!!

Moms, *nods* cold air is what we do. We drag his tired, protesting little behind up, wrap him in a blanket, and carry him outside for a minute or two. It chills his little airways down promptly, and he’s feeling better enough to go back to sleep in no time. He’s been bunking in with us (he usually comes in anyway, but we’re super snuggly and attentive when he’s feeling poopy. I didn’t realize Dimetapp has diphenhydramine (Benadryl) in it- has it always? I don’t remember if it did when I was young and took it. It sure helped him sleep good last night! 🙂

Very cold and snowy here. We got a bunch of snow today so my classes were cancelled. It takes a lot for them to cancel classes so I was surprised by that. The high on wednesday is -1 and the windchill is supposed to be around -30 or -40. Hopefully they’ll cancel classes for that as well.

Choco…I’m with you… tired of snow and cold temps… No new snow here but expecting Arctic Blast tonight and into tomorrow…Predicting coldest temps in 25 years !
dee… Really hope it doesn’t get that cold here ! I guess it should only last a couple of days and then move on…
Back to work this morning… was able to finish the Checkers Matches for one account… Very time intensive.. had a couple of tough competitors !! Probably will only do one more account and then be done with Checkers !

dh has been to a super bowl, but i haven’t – definitely a wish for me. i’ve been to the olympics, world series, the masters … i feel like a super bowl needs to happen, too 😉

Gaga – How interesting about the name! All the best to you! My youngest dd is very grateful that we didn’t give her one name that we were considering. As far as I know, all of our five are okay with their names. I didn’t like my name as a kid. I thought it would be cool to be “Katie” or anything but the given name. Now I don’t mind my name, even though it is almost always mispronounced. And the older I get, I don’t even care about that anymore, either. I prefer Queen of Sheba! 😉 LOL or Sheba Queen. Imaginary world rocks! Ha ha! I guess if I had a name I hated I’d be pursing a name change, too. It is good that your original name doesn’t have special meaning to your mom. That would make it harder to change, I think.

Classes cancelled through noon on thursday due to the cold. Even before the official announcement, one of my professors sent out an email saying we wouldn’t be having class regardless of what the school decided because this weather is ridiculous.
Today wasn’t too bad, most schools were open. Ventured out for the first time in 2 days to get my nephew ready for school. That kid LOVES this kind of weather! He was bummed that I made him sit in the car while we were at the bus stop. Sorry kid, you may like the cold, but this is COLD cold and aunt choco has no tolerance for this type of nonsense weather… and then I got myself an iced coffee on my way home because I’m still a little crazy.
Dixie – I like the name Naomi. Never met anyone with that name, but my sister used to have a cat named Naomi. She was an evil little thing, but she had a nice name.
No interest in the super bowl, I’ll be watching the puppy bowl.

Greetings from the Polar Kotex! Yes, I said Kotex…gotta have a little fun with this freezing cold. Minus 3 here and getting down to -26 (actual temp) tonight. High tomorrow is -10 and tomorrow night it’s getting down to -31. I didn’t even know that was possible. The weather people are saying exposed skin could get frost bite as little as 5 minutes. Will not be leaving the house the next two days. We will see how Stella fairs going potty in that. We do have pee pads just in case. Her new game is getting in the tub and barking…at what, I don’t know! LOL 🙂

Dee – what did you think of Oh La La? I saw a picture of her online and watched it just so I could see that cat! Maybe put some bows on her or some costumes? Unless she’s the type that will start plotting your demise if you dress her up.
My mom litterbox trained our chihuahua, although he mostly uses pee pads now. Much better option than expecting him to go out where the snow is taller than he is. He hates the cold! His itty bitty feet get cold.

Hello everyone!
Spent 6 1\2 hours in ER with hubby yesterday. High fever, chest pain, hard time breathing. Tylenol, which he woukd not take at home for me (don’t ask lol)brought fever down..which helped with his breathing..
They saud he had some white blood cells in urine, but weren’t positive it was UTI..so they sent it to be cultured..still waiting on that.
I’m feeling a little better..but ache very bad after sitting in ER on hard plastic chair all day..sigh
I baked a ton of bannana bread for my police buddies..they just sent one to pick up the platters! Lol
Young cutie, and boy did his eyes get big when he saw it lol he was sniffing away..said ohhhh my! Lmbo
I don’t think that bread will last long.
He was one I hadn’t met yet..he was looking around my kitchen, which is STILL not finished 3 years after starting, but close, and said wiw, nice kitchen! I have to say..that made me feel good..it’s been a long redo because of my health issues. But all I have left is the base boards and cabinet trim..so it’s close.. but I’ll never go stainless again. .you see EVERY fingerprint..ugh!

As to WW..Working on 3 of the trophies. I’m half way finished with all 3 Checkers games! I love checkers..4 more games each,( 12 more total) and 1 more day of wishing well.
I also got through 3 of the winter fest challenges! I really hate pizza,palace game..that was a struggle!

Literally all schools closed for 2 days because of the cold ! Just checked local temp here is 2…. pretty warm compared to many other places … supposed to drop throughout the day so we’ll see..
Chants… sorry to hear to and hubby still struggling with health problems..hope they figure out source of his fever and able to give him treatment..

Ok, Dee just detected a new meme!! That IS funny! ‘Two cupcakes short’ is going to swim around in my head for a while and I know A LOT of people who are two cupcakes short ROFL
My dogs are in and out! I’ve never seen them widdle so fast! The door didn’t even get the chance to close! Then, both raced back into the house and promptly found the heat register and FOUGHT over it! The plastic bag the newspaper was in cracked! And I have to DRIVE to work in this! luckily, one of the girls who lives a block away from work is loaning me her car space to plug in my car so it won’t freeze and will start when I get off work.
Best advice from someone who frequently sees ‘Polar Kotex’s’ (thank you April for that chuckle) is to make sure your gas tank in your vehicle is always above the half full mark! Seriously, if it’s below that, it develops condensation that can freeze and can lock your car’s engine SOLID! The only benefits to this kind of cold is that it will kill viruses if it’s duration is extended, it generally doesn’t snow and when it’s this cold, the windows on your car don’t get frosty so you won’t have to scrape windshields (until after you get inside and start breathing then it’s inside)
