i think i am just going to roast turkey breasts this year – seems like most of the dark meat ends up wasted. A friend of mine told me that they just get turkey from Cracker Barrel and warm it, then cook all the sides – I’m SO tempted to do that!

My fam got our turkey today from our local farm… it doesn’t taste any different than a store-bought turkey but your wallet can tell the difference. It does feel good to support the local farms though!

In our family, we take the left over turkey and cook it in gravy which really moistens it up and kind of shreds it. Then we make open faced sandwiches.. ie put the turkey mixture on bread and serve with vegetables.

Gaga, I attempted to surprise you with a blanche plushy but I couldn’t find your username on the kinzpost because it’s all messed up! I’m glad someone else was able to get one for you πŸ™‚

I did not butcher it myself but I saw the whole process take place. Kinda cool! Kinda gross too

Sorry Dee I don’t own sport related shirts for any team nor black sweat pants. I prefer flannel and fleece. But I do think it is cool you have a red wings shirt. Sweat pants in public are pretty common here although mostly kids and older people who need the extra warmth.

We only got about 20 minutes of heavy flurries that promptly melted where I am at but my Dad says the U of M game was getting some snow yesterday. Could barely see the players on the screen.

dee – turkey sushi – is this a joke? no. just no.

i like a left over turkey sandwich on white bread with salt, pepper, and mayo – that’s it

dh likes his with a slice of cranberry sauce

i LOVE turkey a la king like my mom used to make – she would make homemade biscuits, open them, & pour the a la king on top mmmmmmm

i’m teasing about the sweatpants – i’m all for comfy – i just can’t stand the sweatpants that are like the Haynes kind with the elastic ankles and waist – but a drawstring pant or yoga pant – or leggings with a dress or long tunic – oh yeah – i’m all about that! today i am wearing comfys with a shirt that says SORRY, IT’S TOO “PEOPLEY” OUT THERE – so yeah, not so fashionista πŸ˜€

Hello my friends, I Love Thanksgiving! We had ours last month, but I sure could go for another Turkey Dinner this month! πŸ˜›
But Dawn says we have to wait for next month for Christmas Turkey πŸ˜€ I guess she is right if we had a big turkey dinner with all the fixings & treats too often it would not be so special πŸ˜€
I am Thankful for Love of my family here at home & the love I feel from my online every time I come here & read this Awesome Blog! πŸ˜€
Have a Great Happy & Healthy week my friends! Bye for now

PS: If anyone has an extra chef stove from the Peek-a-news that you would like to trade? Please let me know what you would like for it, I can’t seem to win any rare items lately. Thanks πŸ˜€

I like REALLY dry turkey…though, I don’t know that we will have much of a Thanksgiving this year with my MIL still being in the hospital. Two years ago, she had a hip replacement. They put in the wrong hip and then dislocated it while moving her. They had to wait 48 hours to attempt to fix it because they gave her dinner that night. She was in a lot of pain! Then, about 2 months ago, she started to get more pain. After 3 doctors and an ER visit, it was determined she had an infection in her hip and that if they didn’t perform emergency surgery, she could go septic. The surgery to remove her hip completely for 90 days to allow the infection to heal was scheduled for Friday. They took her back…then two hours later explained to us that they tried to put an IV port into her neck and knicked her Carotid Artery. They needed to pull a Vascular Surgeon out from another OR to fix the problem. Now because of that injury, she can’t have surgery till at least next Wednesday or the following Monday. It is all such a mess!!! I have been at the hospital every day since I have been home.

It was pretty interesting to walk around Rome and see the ancient ruins mixed in with the bustling city. Italians seem desensitized to the history there. Augustus Caesar’s Temple was so over grown with vegetation that they were not letting anyone near it. But, other sites were amazing!!! The Pantheon, Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica were so incredibly impressive. They were all huge structures of Marble and Gold, and sooo ornate. Just beautiful.
Rome seems to be THE shopping capitol of the world. I have never seen more high-end goods for sale. Not even in NYC or Las Vegas. Not my cup of tea. I didn’t even recognize most brands.
Pizza and Gelato on every corner. There may have been 4 McDonald’s and 2 Burger King Restaurants in all of Rome. (Too many in my opinion.) Pasta was good. People were polite.
Gaga! There was a guy on the Metro with a CAVS Championship Hat on. That was exciting to see!

Sorry for my long post. I am incredibly tired and delirious. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving week. Good luck to all of you who want to shop on Black Friday!!!

BTW. All I have been able to come up with are Amanda Panda Campaign Signs. Does anybody need one of those? Hoping to get at least one of each item before they switch candidates. We will see.

Anyone else just finish watching the AMAs? I almost never watch award shows but sure, why not. When my family has leftover turkey but not gravy, always white because my family loves dark meat, we just add mayo and cheese. Γ°ΕΈΛœβ€Ή

Boper Thanks for trying to send the Blanche plushie. It was very thoughtful of you ! I don’t think I could eat turkey if I saw how they prepared it for the
    grocery store !!
AmberRose.. so sorry to hear about all the trouble your MIL is having medically.
what an ordeal.. I will keep her in my prayers..I know those kinds of events are so emotionally and physically draining for the family.
Your trip sounds really amazing..I guess there are CAVS fans all over the world!
I haven’t opened the Mayors boxes yet but hopefully be able to send what you don’t have. West side got minimal dusting of snow… but it sure is cold. not used to it yet.

    Good morning!!

Always nice to ‘see’ you gagagee! πŸ™‚

Amber, I sent an Amanda Panda and a hat. flags poles are somewhere, just haven’t found them yet. πŸ™„ Can’t tell you how awful I feel for your mother in law and whole family. My left hip needs fixing, and I’ve been putting it off. Got name of surgeon from sweet lady in her 90’s who had her hip done last year. She raved about her surgeon, said she was back to her yoga class two weeks after surgery. 😯 Prayers for your MIL.

Our elder dd hostesses the family Thanksgiving. She does the turkey, mashed taters, corn and biscuits. I do stuffin’ muffins; greenbean casserole; and smashed yams. younger dd usually brings pies. I might pick up a pepperidge farm coconut cake, just ’cause…

Amber, you’re very welcome! I don’t need/want anything in return; happy to help round out your candidate gifts. πŸ™‚

dee, if memory serves (no guarantee) I think you posted a link to a food site that showed stuffin muffins many years ago. simply make your preferred stuffing, then ice cream scoop it into muffin bake pans(mine have twelve cups) and bake til tops look a tad crunchy. I don’t know exact bake time; just keep checking. when they look ‘done’, I use a rubber spatula to gently loosen them out of pan and put them in/on shallow corning ware bake dish for serving. geez. reread before I hit ‘submit’. can you tell I’m a seat of my pants type in the kitchen? 😳

Have a great day, everyone!! Γ’β„’Β₯

stuffed celery.. waldorf salad… and my 90 year old Mom !!
Will try to do groceries tonight because tomorrow will be chaos and the store !!
My favorite at home clothes are turtleneck with sweatshirt from nephew’s college… and a pair of well worn jeans with more holes than swiss cheese !!
Could never go out in public in them but they are really comfy and jeans
are really hard to find these days !! Most are stretchy material and not real denim.

When I find a pair of jeans that I love, I also buy numerous pair. We had a store that went out of business here. I loved their jeans so much that I bought four pair before I couldn’t get them any more! Six years later, though, I wish now that I had a different style. They are very dull, but still in great condition…so I have a hard time justifying going out and buying more! Hmmm…Maybe I could make something else out of them.

Prayers sent for Warrior Princess, Gramma. She’ll be ok. My dog had to be sedated yesterday because he had an anal gland burst. They put him on some strong pain meds. He’s moving around ok today. It’s been a crazy week!

    Have a good day all!

gramma.. how is the Warrior Princess doing ? and how are YOU doing?
Sounds like it could be a long 12 days !! I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers… Seeing her in the lampshade would be difficult… I know most pets don’t like wearing it … especially for any length of time !!
AmberRose… sorry about your pup too !! Our pets are such an important part of a family and it is hard to see them in distress.
moms.. really good idea with little boy undies.. I bet he looked really cute!
I hope you all gave a good day !!

    Good Morning!
    Thanks gagagee. πŸ™‚
Xena ate a good breakfast(she and I are early risers); me holding her dish at a comfortable level to maneuver the cone. She used the litter box some time through the night; a good sign. Got on a comfy makeshift bed I made her after eating breakfast and snoozed comfortably for a bit over two hours. Will start meds today as prescribed. Dread it as she’s a real pistol to pill and she also gets 20 drops of something else. I think the drops are for pain as needed; pills are antibiotic. aaaand she weighs over 20 lbs so pilling with one hand while trying to hold her with the other is a Herculean feat. We’ll manage. I’ll do anything to make her comfortable and get her through these next 12 days.
    Thanks for prayers! Γ’β„’Β₯

i cut a hole in pull ups and put those on her the first couple of days because we couldn’t bandage her butt – those are the super cute pics – but i didn’t want to say anything because it is very dangerous if the dog eats any part of a diaper – like major emergency surgery! i only kept one on her when i was home and could keep her right with me or put the cone on her, but the vet suggested it because she knows Millie stays pretty much by our sides & that we are hyper attentive

going to look for the adorable pics
