Chicken & Noodle Casserole
8 oz sour cream
6 chicken breasts
8 oz egg noodles
2 cans cream of chicken soup (or 1 mushroom & 1 chicken)
1 can cream of celery soup
1 small onion sauteed in butter
shredded cheddar cheese
bread crumbs
Cook chicken – boil in 4 quarts of water and set aside
Cook noodles in chicken broth
Mix cut up chicken with drained noodles
Mix in soups, sour cream, onion
Pour in casserole dish
Bake uncovered 350 degrees for 40 minutes
Top with bread crumbs and cheese and bake 5 more minutes

Hi friends! Sorry I haven’t been around to post or respond. I’ve been so busy the past couple days, and tomorrow won’t be any better. Super busy week! I have not had a chance to catch up yet. Will try to later this weekend!
My daughter has some significant medical issues. They are not extremely serious or terminal, but they are chronic, and at times, very challenging for a teenager to deal with. She has had more doctors’ appointments, tests, blood work, and trips to the hospital over the past two years than I’ve had in my whole life. Despite this, she just rolls with the punches. She jokes with the doctors, teases the nurses, and clutches my hand when she is in pain. Yesterday, she had an especially horrible doctor’s visit, and she spent today at Children’s Hospital.
I don’t mention this as a sad or negative thing. This is actually meant to be a very positive story. There are few things this child loves more than books, and because she obsesses about her grades, she contacted her teachers yesterday to get her school assignments so she doesn’t get behind. She had to read a novel for her 10th grade English class, and then write a reaction to it.
I picked the book up for her. It’s called The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. I love to read, but rarely do I read fiction. I love non-fiction, particularly philosophy, science, history, psychology, religion, etc. I have read very few novels.
After her doctor’s appointment yesterday, she looked so down and withdrawn. So I asked her about her book. It took a bit of questioning, but she opened up and started talking about it. The next thing I knew, she was telling me all about it and so excited! She asked me if she could read it to me. She had already read part of it, but she would start over if she could read it to me.
Those sparking eyes… so sad just a few minutes ago… now beaming. The excitement in her voice. The last thing I felt like doing was listening to her read a melodramatic teenage romance novel to me. Is there a worse fate? But I said sure, I would love to listen to you read. I figured… she can read me a few chapters, and then we’ll be home, and she’ll go off to her room and finish the book on her own.
Noooo… she started reading, and I had a total mommy moment watching her read… got all teary eyed, and of course, this kid doesn’t miss a beat. Now there was a connection, and she didn’t want to stop reading, and honestly, I didn’t want her to stop reading. So she read to me until she had to go to bed last night. And then today, driving up to the hospital in Cincinnati, over lunch, waiting in the waiting room, waiting in the exam room, in between chats with doctors and nurses, on the ride home, over dinner, and then for several hours after dinner we curled up on my bed and she read the final chapters to me. 344 pages she read to me in two days… two of the best days of my life.
Amazing story! And sharing it with her was the best. We laughed together and cried together. We’ve had similar experiences watching movies together in the past, but that’s the first time I’ve ever shared a novel with her. I’m hoping for more. We’re planning our next story together. Some of my friends think it’s crazy to want to live forever, that life will grow boring and stale after a while. I’ve never met anyone like my daughter. I can’t imagine that life would ever grow dull with her. The thought of any potential moment without her is one I already miss.

Hi everyone. Thank you soo much for thinking of Bailey! He has regained his appetite and is eating normal meals again!!! As a matter of fact, I made lasagna last night and my garbage can sits right to the left of my stove. He smelled the ground beef cooking and must have thought it was in the garbage can because he knocked the can over twice! That dog is full of spit and vinegar! But thank goodness!!! He has another vet appointment on Tuesday. We will see if any of his levels have improved…
Ruby, I love ALL of the rooms you shared. Sooo creative! I think my favorites are the Orchard and the Bowling Alley. I haven’t had much time to decorate lately. But, you have given me some great ideas! Also, have you ever seen The Money Pit with Tom Hanks? Your story of house renovations made me think of it. I think it is on Netflix right now…if you haven’t seen it. It is hilarious!

ruby – what a wonderful thing to read! i am sorry that your dd has medical troubles, it’s terrible to see young people suffer medical problems. i am so glad you found a way to turn the negative into a positive mother/daughter experience!!! sometimes when one of my boys has a book to read for class, they will ask me to read it at the same time or if they have a book they really like, i’ll usually read it – it’s fun to talk with them about it. i read A Thousand Splendid Suns this summer because it was my oldest’s summer reading project

Decided to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend as it is a cooler day today. Turkey was on sale for $0.77/lb so i snatched a large one for pretty cheap. Having sweet potato pie, cranberry stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts, salad and of course pie for dessert. So I am planning on exercising before dinner as I anticipate a serious food coma after I eat. I have been “mindfully” eating and exercising since July and have managed to lose a pound a week consistently.. 13 lbs in total. Still about 20 lbs to go to get back to where I should be but I’m feeling so much better and getting back into clothes that I haven’t worn in a while.
Super excited about the month of October. Halloween is a family favourite here. My husband put up our homemade “countdown to halloween” sign today. It is a 5 foot tombstone that we have lit up red.. I made blood dripping numbers that we change out daily. The grave yard fence will go up within 2 weeks and then we usually add things every couple of days.
Off to baste the turkey but will will check in later. Happy October everyone.

Cool it’s finally October, sad that I’m not Deluxe that I can’t get a few of the Haunted Castle stuff, was really wanting that ghost one, and I can’t seem to find anyone that is willing to trade me things for it, I’ve got things that I’d be willing to trade or something to give to people for it!

I only have august and sept. So far. Both of those months I also got one 8f each if the new items too..
I was wondering if anyone had other windows and items for previous months for trade? I’m not looking for freebies! Just really love the windiws…
