I’d love some cucumbers, Dee! ;)
Miracle – I’m not great at the Candy Bash2 game so you don’t want any tips from me! Sigh! My high score was 17 KC, but I usually get 7-12 KC at a time. The Deluxe Challenge was painful, but I finally got it done on my account and my dd’s.
Looks like I can’t space between comments or it won’t post.

    Hey everyone!

It’s been a while since my last post, so I thought I’d drop by and wish you all a good week :) I just finished reading everyone’s comments, and my thoughts are with those of you who are going through health and work-related challenges. I hope things start looking up for you soon ♥

Ruby, I think a Webkinz spider would make a great Halloween pet! I’d definitely dress mine up in the Creepy Crawly Hat and Slippers  And if it were to be an Exclusive Online Pet, the Ganz eStore could even make a trio similar in concept to the Lil’ Spring Celebration pets.

Aw april, I’m so glad you liked the gifts! And thanks for the heads up on The Great British Baking Show! I’m enjoying Season 3 as well.

This year’s Wacky Zingoz Celebration prizes are adorable! I especially love the Wacky Scooter and Knapsack. Too cute!

And thank you SO much for the awesome surprise, generous Secret Santakinz! :D

Thank you for the gift as well shellybrayley, I love those Hot Peppermint Sticks! They’ve been put away in my fridge :)

And welcome to Gymbo’s Kitterztoo, Starla McCarty and Karen!

Congratulations on winning a Hatch the Dragon Trophy, Catmom and Queen of Sheba! And thanks for sharing your tips as well, Ruby and Loop! I’ll have to give them a try the next time I play.

Speaking of trophies, the other day I finally managed to win a Jumbleberry Blast Trophy, due in large part to your awesome tutorial, Ruby! As you said, it’s a difficult trophy to earn, which makes it even more special! Cleverlee and I think it’s berry cute. Thank you from both of us! :D

Muffin, on the right-hand side of the blog there’s a link under “Pages” called “How to Make Smilies on the blog” – That’s where I learned how to make them ;)

cwc, I got your sweet message and I’m so glad you liked the gifts! All of the items I’ve sent are extras I’ve gotten through trading, so nothing’s needed in return. Hugs! ♥

I love the new Exclusive Items, especially that gorgeous Peridot Geode Divider! Glad I have some Wish Tokens saved up – Hopefully they won’t be too pricey. Loop, I can hardly wait for your spoilers on Wednesday! SO exciting

DEE, homegrown vegetables are the best!

And thanks for the new post Patsie, the Peridot Mosaic Tile is really pretty!

    Hi everyone!

My kiddo’s surgery went very well this morning. Thank you for thinking of her, Gaga! We were home by early afternoon. Her face is a little swollen and her speech is a bit garbled from the swelling in her throat, but overall she is doing well. She is drinking as much as she can and sleeping off the anesthesia. That’s the part she hates the most. It makes her really nauseated. She’s sleeping now, which means I finally get to rest! :)

Miracle – I’m glad you enjoyed the honeycomb items! I sent you a couple more. As far as I know, that’s all the tradeable items in that theme. And yes, I posted the link to Lucas the Spider! The videos are the cutest things I’ve ever seen! My favorite episode is “Encore”. The look on Lucas’ face when he loses his harp is so precious. My husband loves “Giant”. He watches that 30 second video almost every day, and when Lucas closes his eyes and sings, “Ooohh”, my husband cracks up every time. He made Lucas the background for his computer. LOL. As far as Candy Bash goes, no trick to it. Just push through it. It’s awful! I just finished my challenge a few days ago because I hate the game so much. I played it a little here and a little there until it was finally done and was so glad when it was over!

Sheba – I’m so glad the Hatch the Dragon tips were helpful! Congrats to you and Catmom on winning the trophy!

Catmom – Another awesome walk! You’re really getting around! Did you carry back all the items you bought?

Cheese – Hugs, my friend! Congrats to you and Cleverlee on winning the Jumbleberry Blast trophy! That is a really hard one! I’m so glad my tutorial was helpful!

Gaga – I’m sorry to hear that your workplace has become so intolerable. I’ve pretty well run the gamut of healthcare. Everything from nonprofit public community health and working in the ICU at a level 3 pediatric trauma center to managing a corporate health care office and case management for a Fortune 500 corporate insurance company. While I have tended, overall, to feel happier with my role in nonprofit institutions, I’ve enjoyed the corporate experience more in terms of employee satisfaction.

Hospitals have changed SO much even since I entered the field 20 years ago. Most of them, at least in the Cincinnati area, were historically religious based. Doctors ran the hospitals. Now hospitals form alliances, and insurances companies and Medicare dominate healthcare decisions. It’s like a bad episode of Survivor. The whole system has become massively corporate. I’m so glad to be out of it, at least for the moment. If I have to go back, it will probably be to work for an insurance company, and even though I feel like I’m selling my soul to the devil, I enjoy the work and the atmosphere a lot more.

I’m really sorry you’re so unhappy in your job, and I know you really want to ride it out until you retire. If I may offer a word of advice (which you may already fully realize)? In my experience, when there is change in management, whether it’s the managers themselves or the way things are done (or both), there is often a lot of staff turnover. And the bigger the changes, the more unhappy the employees are. A lot of times, it’s the most senior employees who have the most difficult time adjusting. I’ve seen this happen so many times. Longtime employees, really good ones, resist the changes brought about by new management, and many of them leave, either on their own or because management forces them out.

The employees who can accept the changes and adapt are the ones who form the foundational core staff moving forward. I know that it is really difficult to embrace changes that you dislike and don’t agree with, especially if you’re holding on to the nostalgia of an older model. But new management will see their decisions as progress. It’s hard to invest yourself emotionally in a job like yours every day and simultaneously detach from the institution, but for the sake of your own psyche, it’s what you need to do. Your hospital might have once been a big loving family, but it’s falling victim to the same corporate changes that most healthcare organizations are facing. And to be fair, some of the changes are necessary because hospitals have limited control over their own fate now.

I hope I’m not out of line in suggesting this, and I apologize if I am. But I’ve had this discussion with quite a few nurses, some of them my own employees. The more you can try to understand the rationales behind the decisions that are made, and support them, even try to embrace the changes that you can, the easier it will be for you to move forward without hating your job. If for no other reason, for your own mental state and self preservation until you can retire. There have been many things that I have disagreed with management on, but a lot of times I can at least accept it, maybe even get behind it, if I understand the reasons and the reasons are logical. And this can be really difficult for nurses.

Most of us feel a strong sense of compassion for our patients and fellow employees, and that empathy and emotional attachment to them can cause our ethics to become too idealistic in this corporate healthcare arena. I really came to appreciate this when I worked in management. If it had been up to me from a strictly clinical point of view, I would have taken every patient who needed home health. I would have given them supplies if they couldn’t afford them. I would have paid my nurses and therapists more to make their visits, but that’s not sustainable for any institution. I had to turn away patients because their insurance wouldn’t cover their care. I had to let nurses go when our census dropped so low that we could no longer afford to keep them. They are tough decisions to make, but necessary to continue operating.

I’ll tell you about one of the most difficult decisions I had to make as a nurse manager in home health. I took a referral for an elderly patient after she came home from the hospital. She had a managed Medicare plan. Her plan covered our visits initially to teach her or someone in her family how to do a procedure, which she would need to have done on an ongoing basis. She was absolutely physically incapable of performing the procedure herself, and she had nobody that was willing or able to do it for her on a regular basis. We informed her insurance company that she had nobody to do this procedure for her and she could not do it herself, because Medicare only covers the education, they will not cover a nurse going in weekly to do the procedure for the patient. However, from a clinical perspective, I believed that having a home health nurse go in each week to perform the procedure for the patient, which would be far more likely to keep the patient out of the hospital, was clinically beneficial to the patient, but also cost effective for the insurance company.

Because this was a corporate, managed Medicare plan, the insurance company had the ability to authorize the visits based on medical necessity even if the procedure wasn’t covered by traditional Medicare. And here’s the kicker! I spent SO many hours working on this case with the patient’s PCP and her clinical nurse case manager at the insurance company. It got escalated to a physician at the insurance company and utilization review, and EVERYONE agreed clinically that a home health visit once a week was medically recommended for this patient. Verbally, I was told repeatedly by her insurance company to keep seeing her, but when I asked them for written authorization, they would not send it. So I had no proof of authorization, which is a huge liability. If we were to get audited (and insurance companies audit home health agencies, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations all the time), at best, they could make us pay back thousands of dollars for visits that we did not have authorization for, and at worst, we could be accused of Medicare fraud and end up with a Medicare audit, which is a million times worse than a JCAHO inspection.

I can’t even tell you how much I wrestled with this decision. And I talked to my managers and QA about it for many hours. Ultimately, after several months of seeing this patient, I had to make the decision to discharge her from our care. The patient was SO upset, completely distraught, having nobody to help her with a nursing procedure each week. I spent several hours on the phone with her trying to help her figure out another option. Her PCP and the clinicians at her insurance company were very upset about us discharging her. My nurse who had been seeing this patient every week was heartbroken and really angry about having to discharge her, and I low key think she continued to go do the visits for a while voluntarily on her own time without pay until the patient could make other arrangements. And I told all of them that I completely empathized with the situation. I told her insurance company’s clinical review team that all I needed was written authorization, the exact same thing they were giving me verbally over the phone, and we would love to continue seeing her, but they refused to provide that. And that seriously jeopardized the company financially and legally, and since I was the manager making the call, it potentially jeopardized my license as well.

These are the really tough decisions that healthcare managers have to make sometimes. And they can be awful. In my opinion, a good manager will wrestle with decisions like these. I made many decisions that I knew my nurses didn’t agree with. I even had one that quit, and a couple others threatened to quit. The best I could do was try to explain my rationales so that at least they understood where I was coming from, but at the end of the day, they had to grapple with it and decide whether to move forward with decisions they didn’t like, or move on. I valued my nurses and respected each of them, most of whom had been with the agency long before I joined the team. But they were all replaceable if they couldn’t accept my leadership. An open dialogue between managers and staff can really help to bridge the gap in situations like the one you’re in, Gaga. I don’t know if management is willing to include you in these decisions, or at least explain their rationales for them, but if so, it may help.

So I don’t know if this helps at all, but my suggestion would be to try to wrap your head around the decisions as much as possible, rationally, not emotionally. I’ve had long talks with my managers in the past about why they’ve done the things they’ve done so that I can at least understand where they’re coming from. If you can try to think through these changes from their perspective, you may be able to appreciate where they’re coming from and ally with them, and if you respect your managers and they respect you, that tends to create a more tolerable working relationship even if it’s not perfect or ideal. Just some of my thoughts having worked on both sides of management.

    Good Morning All !
RubyCube… Happy to hear that your daughter is home .. and everything went well !!
Having been with the same institution for over 40 years… I have seen many administrations come and go…I have been through many changes and have always been able to adapt… but when the nuns gave up ownership five years ago… things have steadily gone corporate….Do more with less.. and less.
I guess not that I am older I am more resistant to change..The whole atmosphere is different.. People no longer smile and greet each other as they pass in the hallways…I have a chance on Saturdays when I volunteer.. to go from floor to floor and stop at each division…Many times .. no signs of any nurses..aides.. almost like a ghost town…kind of scary …Who taking care of the patients ???
I have resolved myself… to do the best I can… take one day at a time… and if and when the time comes they tell me to go….. I will but not look for another nursing job…..I will look back at my career and take pride in my work and move on…………
On a lighter note…. Can’t wait for Wacky !! My favorite .. Hope to win all the prizes… Have started practicing WackyER in hopes of getting a high enough score..
If anyone is interested the e store has the calendar posted for August and what is being released and when… Still says July but if you click on it.. August pops up… New pet for August is an Old English Sheepdog….First dog I owner in RL !!! So cute…Her name was Rags !!

Good morning friends!!! Ruby, so glad your daughter is doing well!!
gaga, sorry to hear of your workplace woes!! I agree healthcare is hard. We are always short staffed where I work and even our admin admits you have to be crazy to work there. They don’t really offer great incentive for you to turn your life over to them. I had a bad day yesterday because I was over stressed. Scary thing is I’m trying to get into nursing school in January. I know what kinda mess I’m getting into yet trying anyway lol. I’m worried I’m too old for this stuff haha.
Dee, I would love some cukes. I don’t like to eat them but I do love them in a glass of water. It gets me to actually drink the stuff. I’m more of a coke person but I’m trying to get clean lol. Haven’t drank any in 2 days now. I would love to try canning too. Don’t know what to can. Nothing grows well in this Florida heat!!!
I am so thankful for all the work moms and the others put into this blog. I know I don’t comment much but I do love that its a place I can go and connect with people.

Morning Gymbonians, and HAPPY UPDATE WEDNESDAY!

It’s kind of a small update this month :( but there’s some good stuff, so let’s just jump right in!

Up first is PETS! Top row: Baby Alligator Gift Box, Playful Bog Bed, Swampy Sippy Cup.
Middle row: Unnamed tiger gift box, unnamed tiger PSI (which is just the Signature Calico Cat’s PSI recolored, sigh!), unnamed tiger PSF. Bottom row: Flutter Cow Gift Box, Pink Flutter Bed, Oatmeal Moon Pies.

Speaking of the Baby Alligator, here’s what it looks like. My opinion is pretty much UGH, but maybe somebody out there will like it.

  22. 22 TheSpoilerLurker said,

    August 1, 2018 @ 10:15 am

    Here’s the Flutter Cow:

Moooooving right along (Ugh, bad pun! ), we have the rest of the Blue Ribbon Barnyard theme, finally! Top row: Blue Ribbon Windmill, Barnyard Well, Barnyard Flowing Tree, Barnyard Bench. Bottom row: Barnyard Pasture Tile, Blue Ribbon Corn Seeds, Blue Chips and Salsa. For the record, I have eaten blue corn chips in real life and they’re AWESOME!

  23. 23 TheSpoilerLurker said,

    August 1, 2018 @ 10:29 am

Next is the parade of estore. Top row: Brilliant Butterscotch Tree, Butterscotch Toffee, Butterscotch Ripple Fence, Summer Fl0ral Curtains. Bottom row: Summer Breeze Wallpaper, Summer Breeze Bed, unnamed apple floor tile (NEEEEEEEEEEEED!), unnamed cauldron. The Butterscotch stuff is this month’s candy tree, food, and tie-in item. The Summer Fl0ral and Summer Breeze stuff will show up in the August Sale and August BOGO sale. I’m guessing the apple floor tile will be for this year’s apple picking event, and the cauldron will make its appearance around Halloween.

More estore. Top row: Creepy Swamp Wallpaper, Creepy Swamp Flooring, Creepy Swamp Cottage, Creepy Swamp Bridge. Bottom row: Cat Ears Headband Wig, Fluffy Pom Pom Pigtails, Wise Owl Feet, Berry Delight Column. The Creepy Swamp is definitely a Halloween release, and I’m thinking it might be the October ?? Box theme. (I love the chicken feet on the bottom of the cottage…brings Baba Yaga to mind, lol!) I normally don’t stick clothes in with furniture, but these are all the estore type clothes in this release that we have images for. :( The headband wig and pigtails feel like estore Back to School clothes. The owl feet go with the owl costume and hat I showed you last time and feel like fall mystery or possibly Halloween costume stuff. We will also have a Fall Fairy Dress, Wig, and Shoes; a Rainbow Clown Dress, Bow, and Shoes; and a Cotton Candy Witch Hat, Shoes, and presumably a dress. These items do not have pictures in the system yet, and the Cotton Candy Witch costume piece has neither a name nor a picture, so that’s an educated guess on my part.

  24. 24 TheSpoilerLurker said,

    August 1, 2018 @ 10:36 am

Yet more estore newness. Top row: unnamed carrot cottage, Corncob Cottage, unnamed teapot cottage, Snail Shell Cottage. Bottom row: two unnamed foods that I stuck here merely because I had room. No idea how the foods will be released, but the cottages will most likely be promo in some form or fashion.

More estore. Top row: Sunflower Wallpaper, Sunflower Flooring, Sunflower Patio Plant, Sunflower and Spice Muffin. Bottom row: Sweet Pepper Patio Plant, Cheesy Bacon Poppers, Honeyberry Patio Plant, Honeyberry Shortcake. The Sunflower wall and floor is the next Room with a View theme, and the Sunflower Patio Plant will be the tie-in piece for that theme, which is nice, because Patio Plants are usually promo. The other two patio plants will most likely be promo, but I don’t care, because I have ’em all and I’ll cave like the weak, weak person I am and get these too.

  25. 25 TheSpoilerLurker said,

    August 1, 2018 @ 10:47 am

Next up is something new, exciting, and probably frustrating as all heck. Top row: Swirly Wallpaper Pack, Swirly Pink Wallpaper, Swirly Lilac Wallpaper, Swirly Slate Wallpaper. Middle row: Swirly Navy Wallpaper, Swirly Cream Wallpaper, Swirly Peach Wallpaper, Swirly Gray Wallpaper. Bottom row: Swirly Taupe Wallpaper, Swirly Green Wallpaper, Swirly Blue Wallpaper. What I think will happen is this: you buy the Swirly Wallpaper Pack and you get a random swirly wallpaper. So you have to buy a bunch to get the color you want. Anything to get us to spend more money, eh Ganz?

And of course, they’ll make us do it with floors, too. Top row: Polished Floor Pack, Polished Pink Floor, Polished Lilac Floor, Polished Slate Floor. Middle row: Polished Cream Floor, Polished Peach Floor, Polished Gray Floor, Polished Taupe Floor. Bottom row: Polished Blue Floor, Polished Green Floor, Polished Navy Floor. So not only will we have to buy umpteen boxes to get the wall we want, will have to buy umpteen boxes +1 to get the matching floor. Soooooooo lame.

I am sorta hoping that buying the pack gives you ALL the wallpapers or floors, but I’m not holding my breath. Ganz is wayyyyy too greedy to make it that easy, lol.

  26. 26 TheSpoilerLurker said,

    August 1, 2018 @ 11:01 am

Let’s get Wacky now, shall we? You’ve probably seen most of these images on WKN already, but I’m posting ’em anyway. Top row: Wacky Knapsack, Wacky Racing Suit, Wacky Sunglasses. Bottom row: Wacky Racing Helmet, Box of Wacky Lemon Ice Pops, Wacky Slippy Slide. The clothing items will be the prizes for reaching 11,000 points in WackyER Zingoz, and the box of ice pops and slippy slide will be estore items.

The other big event this month is the Super School Giveaway. Top row: Marching Band Jacket (just as I predicted! *pats self on back*), Marching Band Shoes, Silver Marching Band Horn. Middle row: Game Day Bench, Game Day Bleachers, KVA Confetti Cannon. Bottom row: three unnamed foods that will most likely be new Recess foods. There’s a Super School Gift Box that I presume will be a floaty clicky and have the Marching Band clothing in it, and you will probably have to click a bunch of them to complete your marching band, because Ganz never makes collecting all of anything easy! The furniture might be available as a log-in gift or from WKN.

Argh! I just realized that the unnamed tiger above actually has a name, lol! The tiger will be called the Moonlight Tiger, so the tiger items are the Moonlight Tiger Gift Box, Moonlight Garden, and Sugar Plum Pie. Sorry about that little bobble!

  27. 27 TheSpoilerLurker said,

    August 1, 2018 @ 11:05 am

And now for some random newness. Top row: Waterfall Bed, Weathered Wood Armoire, Peridot Geode Divider, Giant Gladiolus Garden. Bottom row: Balloon Dog, Woodland Spirit, Octopus. The bed is a new Superbed, the rest of the furniture is new exclusives, and the pet buddies are the winners of the pet buddy contest. We might have a chance to get one for free, but they will be estore, so if you want them all, you have to pony up the points lol.

    Deluxe Wheel:

    From Mayor Dr. Quack:

    * The next time you adopt a new pet, you might just get 1 of our 3 NEW Exclusive items! Looks for the new Weathered Wood Armoire, the Peridot Geode Divider, or the Giant Gladiolus Garden in your next Bonus Box! If you’ve been saving up your Wish Tokens, you can also find these items at the Wish Factory. To make room for the new stock, we’ve retired the Seaside Palace Sandcastle and the Time Warp Clock.

(If anybody needs the two retiring exclusives, speak up! I have a few spares. First come, first served, etc.)

    * There’s also a NEW Superbed inside the Superbed Box! The Waterfall Bed is one wonderful waterbed that will make your pet fall fast asleep! To make room for this new prize, we’ve retired the Sugary Sweet Dreams Bed.

(Aww, that’s my favorite super bed! Good thing I have several. )

    * We’ve added another 6 new Pet Medallions to collect! Visit My Pets to see how many you need to collect before you can adopt a free Tree Frog, Pig, Panda, Baby Penguin, Whimsy Dragon, or even a Signature Australian Shepherd!

    * 3 NEW fan-designed Pet Buddies have been added to Webkinz World! Watch for the announcement by the Ganz eStore when you’ll be able to pick up a Balloon Dog, an Octopus, or a Woodland Spirit buddy for your pet!

*Our latest Wacky Zingoz Celebration event features a floating Wacky starting today, August 1st, and running through Sunday, August 12th! Click on him to receive a Wacky Lemon Ice Pop. If you feed your pet the ice pop, there’s a chance you’ll win a Wacky Go Kart!

*Also as part of our Wacky Zingoz Celebration event, the Master Blaster 600 Trophy will be available until August 12th for anyone who hits Wacky over 600 feet playing Wacky Zingoz in the Arcade!

(Try to get three Master Blaster trophies to earn a special badge!)

*There are also new prizes available for a limited time when you play WackyER Zingoz! Get a score greater than 11500 points playing the game between August 1st and August 12th and you can win a Wacky Racing Suit, a Wacky Racing Helmet, a Wacky Knapsack, or a pair of Wacky Sunglasses!

    * Players can also participate in our Wacky Zingoz Challenge, running for the entire month of August! Once they complete all of the tasks, they’ll win a Wacky Trophy Pedestal and a NEW Wacky Scooter!

*Our next Deluxe Day arrives on Saturday, August 11th! Deluxe Members who visit the Today’s Activities on that day will find a list of special activities just for them, along with a special prize: a Wacky Slippy Slide!

(Bzzzzzt! Wrong, me! The slide is not estore lol!)

    * A reminder that the August Deluxe Challenge starts TODAY! Once Deluxe Members complete all of the tasks, they’ll be awarded a Whimsy Dragon Poster, along with a NEW Whimsical Rocker!

    * Deluxe Members also receive a monthly gift box containing their choice of an item from the NEW Cozy Condo room theme, along with a special piece of clothing that can’t be found anywhere else! August’s Deluxe clothing item is a pair of Solar Flare Flats!

    * Also, starting with August’s Deluxe Gift Box, we’ve included a Deluxe Medallion Gift Box! When they open it, Deluxe Members will receive 10 random Pet Medallions! 5 medallions will be from a common pool, 3 from an uncommon pool, 1 from a rare pool, and 1 from a pool that includes all medallions—including the possibility of getting an Any Pet Medallion! Watch for some cool NEW fan-inspired prizes, with the Marching Band outfit and instruments awarded around the weekends!
